I’m not sure I understand your point. My concern is simply that people are aware of the contributions that women have made throughout history, and that my children know they can be anything they want to be. Is that wrong? Should I be discouraging my children from certain career paths, such as nursing and IT?

I snuck into the tech world through the social media back door. As a kid, young adult and college student, I don’t recall ever being encouraged to even think about programming or engineering, but I’m definitely going to make it clear to my daughters (should I have any!) that it IS an option.

Thanks! My baby girl turns 8 in a couple of weeks. She’ll be out of the house before I know it, and I want her to understand that the only barriers in her way are the ones she allows to be put in front of her.
