In reply to jonmcrawford. the concept of normalization appears in the msdb section, i just don't call it that nor do i ascertain that you should understand it thoroughly at that point. when you do understand it, and are able to put your theory into practice, then i would consider you to be a master database designer.

I realize you are correct for what is seen in the working world, but it frightens me that normalization is only mentioned in the ‘master’ level…doesn’t normalization encompass the principles of ‘breaking apart your nouns’, defining relationships, etc.? Or am I too simplistic?
