Yesterday I actually had to commute to the office for work. Only my office is in Boulder, so the commute is a tad bit longer than what I am used to doing. The trip was a borderline disaster as Delta could not provide a plane with the ability to fly. Actually, that’s not true. The plane would fly, but the landing gear had issues, and that is a critical part of he flying process.
Despite being told “no” twice already, I was fortunate to find a gate agent that could move me over to a United flight that would get me to Denver. I crossed my fingers about my luggage making it with me and headed West. When I got to Denver I began the long process of filing a claim in order to get my luggage which apparently never left Hartford. By the time I got to my hotel it was 1AM MDT, making my commute to the office about 14 hours long, just slightly better than if I had driven myself.
My luggage is due to arrive today. If it does, I will be amazed at the entire process. It may be far from perfect, but given the volume of stuff the airlines move each day the fact that they could scramble to get me and my luggage to Denver in less than a day is actually quite amazing.
This morning I went over to Target to buy some clothes. The hotel was kind enough to provide me with some emergency amenities as well. I made my way over to the office and was given the grand tour. I loved how they have set aside a double cube for their bicycles. I also loved the fact that everyone is in shorts and sandals. And the scenery is wonderful, I will try to get some pictures of the surrounding foothills.
But for now, I need to get to work. The next three days I will be focused on learning as much technical information as possible so that I can begin to provide support.
It’s seems like payback for that wonderful home office sent pictures of. Karma?
Ha! You could be right about that, no question.
