I had an amazing time at the SQL Saturday event in New York City this past weekend. I learned new things, met new people, and ate an olive wrapped in a piece of bacon. What more could you want from a PASS event?
I arrived on Friday evening and attended the speaker party that night. It was great to get caught up with a lot of old (and some new) friends. The next morning I got up and walked across Manhattan on a beautiful Spring day to the Microsoft center right next to Radio City Music Hall. The NFL Draft was taking place there and it was interesting to watch people milling about all day in the streets. I arrived just after 8AM and made my way up to the offices. Before I knew it the keynote was underway and the sessions started up right after.
I even presented a session myself. It was the next to the last time slot for the day and the topic was SQL Server 2008 Audit. I managed to engage the audience from time to time which was a good thing. I even remembered to repeat the questions that were asked. I had been worried that I did not have enough material for 70 minutes but it turned out I had just enough.
My slides can be found on my presentations page and you can rate my talk at SpeakerRate.

Thanks to everyone who made SQL Saturday #39 a wonderful event.
Thanks, Thomas. I’ve forwarded this on to some friends here in Seattle that were asking me for an overview just last week.
An overview of what? SQL Saturday? Or SQL Server Audit?
On SQL Audit. I do one of these as well, and I sent them your presentation as an additional set of data points. Good info – thanks again!
No problem, glad I could help. If anyone wants to ping me with questions, feel free to give them my contact info.
It was good seeing you on Saturday. I enjoyed your session on SQL Audit.
thanks Mark, it was good to see you as well.
