I am happy to write this semi-official announcement regarding the upcoming 24 Hours of PASS event to be held on May 19th and 20th. This is the second event of this type that PASS has put together and the first one that I have had the privilege to help pull together. I know that I have not been blogging much about the special projects that I have been working on for PASS since the start of the year, and this event is one of the reasons why. I simply wanted to wait until we were ready.
A few months ago I was asked to help coordinate this event and I readily agreed. I had no idea just how much effort there was behind the scenes for an event such as this. We spent time evaluating online providers, gathering speakers, coordinating schedules, putting together a web page, etc. I never tracked the number of hours I spent on the event, but there a lot of people besides me that took part in getting this show done and I have no idea how many hours they have spent either. And what is the sum result of all that effort?
24 Hours of PASS, Part Deux!
This event will have a focus on SQL 2008 R2, with 14 of the 24 sessions touching upon some feature or topic pertaining to SQL 2008 R2. The event itself is tied to the other launch events for R2, so it is natural that we have a majority of the sessions that tie to R2. And what topics will be covered in those R2 sessions? I’m glad you asked. Here are some of the features in SQL 2008 R2 that will be discussed:
- PowerPivot
- PerformancePoint
- Utility Control Point
- Parallel Data Warehouse
- StreamInsight
- Master Data Management
- Multi-Server Management
- Report Builder
- Data Tier Applications
And who are the speakers we have lined up to present during the event? Why, check out these names (listed alphabetically by height):
Adam Machanic, Andy Leonard, Brad McGehee, Brent Ozar, Brian Knight, Chuck Heinzelman, Dean Richards, Don Kiely, Don Vilen, Donald Farmer, Glenn Berry, Greg Low, Jacob Sebastian, Jessica Moss, Kevin Cox, Kevin Kline, Louis Davidson, Maciej Pilecki, Peter Myers, Peter Ward, Rushabh Mehta, Sean McCown, Simon Sabin, and Thomas Grohser!
Thanks Tom, How Can I Participate?
Well, why not register for the event? What are you waiting for?
And just like last time, I will be on UStream live during the event. Did you not register yet?
At this point, May 19th is like another Christmas for me. I can hardly wait for it to arrive.
See you there!
Graets! Greats! I want to ask You about new edition, as we see it’s not necessary. I’ll be there!.
