I agree with everything and found myself nodding my head “yes” while reading.
You are absolutely correct, there is a time and place for everything.
What separates the good coaches from the great coaches is knowing when the right time is, and capitalizing on that moment and seizing the opportunity when you see it.
I find that the first timers and much younger kids really need to focus on the task at hand in a much more deliberate way. I want the players to have fun while both at practice and during game time. I want them to feel comfortable around me but most importantly with eachother.
Of course it’s always exciting to win!
No coach can deny that.
Occasionally I find myself in the position of needing to find a balance in the form making a small sacrifice.
What I mean is that if you have an extremely talented soccer player who clearly stands out above the other players and likes to score all the goals, use it to your advantage and have that player pair up with another player or players that will benefit from it and try to spread the wealth the best you can.
Remember, we are stronger as a team.
I would much rather win or any game due to a well rounded collaborate group effort.

I do wish that every coach would take advantage of reading the original post or maybe watching some coaching tutorials. This piece of information and others like it are readily available.
We are all human and can benefit from learning even one new technique.

It’s sort of like when someone doesn’t understand a foreign language – surely speaking louder will convey the message?

I was once a victim of micromanagement and it just killed my productivity. It was almost like ‘I was not coding coz I didn’t see you coming’ :). Glad that’s history now.

Great points to take away…like always. Thank you!

I’ll check my schedule. I may be able to squeeze you in on Tuesday, can my answer wait until then?

Championships are built on quality and quality takes time to put together. Having said that I’d also like to put a deadline so that we’re both on schedule with this. I propose we hold a press conference for your announcement. What say you?
