PASS Update

I am heading to Seattle tomorrow for the next PASS board meeting. It looks like there will be seventeen of us in total, but I am not certain if we will all be in the same room at the same time. If so, I hope they order enough bacon for everyone.

The real reason for me telling you this is that I may be dark for most of this week and into next. On the plus side I have two cross country flights to take and typically I do my best writing on long flights, so hopefully something will come along for me this time as well.

On an unrelated note I had a lot of requests for the Bat stickers. Just to be clear, the Bat stickers exist because of a glitch in the order process at CafePress.com. Essentially they printed my order and then flagged the sticker as a possible trademark infringement and told me I could not use it (um, maybe they should review the image before it gets printed, but I suspect they waited until after charging my credit card anyway). So, I got the one order and a nice phone call telling me to never order any more from them. This is not the first person that has told me that they will not print the stickers, which is unfortunate as I would really like to print up another batch and send them out to anyone that wants one.

So, I dropped a note to Warner Brothers last week and asked them if they would have a problem with me printing up more stickers. I have no idea if they will ever get back to me or not, but I think it is about time I either get some leeway from them or I stop using the Batman theme and move on to something else. It is getting tiring to try and do some fun things and be told “no, we won’t help you”. Stickers, business cards, etc., it is always the same thing. People just don’t want to get themselves in trouble and I can understand that.

I always knew that the whole theme might end one day, and it’s been fun while it lasted, but if the WB comes back and tells me to stop, then I will stop. I have a few thoughts on what to do next anyway. And if the WB comes back and gives me the green light, then I can keep the current moniker and look to build the brand a little more.
