Well, I made it to Denver for the 2007 PASS conference. I lived in Denver for six months back in ’99, so this is like aa mini-homecoming for me this week. After my arrival I met up with some colleagues and took a strool around town. I had lots of good memories of my time spent in Denver, and it is nice to be back.
One thing I really noticed is the incredible landscape here. There is just this feeling of everything being so wide open. Not at all like it is back home. Here, things seem open, and things tend to move at a slower pace as well. I actually started to ask myself “Why not move here?” Then I came to my senses. However, the landscape has such a striking beauty to it that I also started to remember what it was like in Provence, and if my family moves anywhere, Provence is at the top of our wish list.
Meeting up with my friends always leads to quite a few laughs. The first person I always meet up with is Kathi. After we spend time getting caught up, other friends will arrive and before you know it there are a dozen people hanging around swapping stories about clustered indexes. Yeah, it really is that exciting. Today I have a pre-conference seminar to attend and then hope to meet up with even more friends tonight.
