As we close out 2009 I wanted to check back on the goals I had set last year. To recap, I wanted to do the following:
- Get elected to the PASS Board
- Use my Six Sigma training
- Learn more about virtualization
- Spend more time with my children
Well, I got elected (and a big ‘thank-you’ to all of my supporters), so we can check that one off. I believe my Six Sigma training has indeed permeated into a lot of my day-to-day activities. But it is sometimes hard to tell if it is my Six Sigma training or my experience serving on the PASS Board of Directors that is being demonstrated. But we can check that one off.
Our company is moving towards virtualization and as a result I have had lots of opportunities to become more familiar with that technology. So let’s check that one off as well.
Which brings us to line item number four. As much as I would love to say that I have achieved this goal, I will never feel that I spend enough time with my children. But I have tried to find ways, as well as the time, to interact with them. We spent a lot of time playing soccer this year, for example, as well as ice skating lessons. So, let’s leave this unchecked. That way I can look to double my efforts in the coming year.
