Now that my Google Reader has broken one hundred feeds I thought it was about time to start grouping some of the content together. That way I would be able to better manage the feeds and make more effective use of my time. While I was examining the content something struck me as interesting. The bloggers themselves could be ranked in a similar fashion to how you see the NCAA rank a lot of their sports teams. Why not, right? But how? I quickly became mired in a BCS type of controversy, not wanting to let any one factor dominate the others. And then I suddenly remembered that it doesn’t really matter because (1) no one is reading this anyway and (2) it’s my blog and my rankings and I can decide whatever I want and do not have to answer to anyone.
So, I tried grouping the SQL bloggers I currently have in my reader. Ranking them seemed to be too difficult so I put them into groups, the details of which can be found here. I still have other blogs in my reader and I can shuffle people in and out as necessary. The whole point of this is simply for me to keep things organized in my Reader, nothing more than that really. If there are some blogs I may have missed, just let me know. The names are arranged in alphabetical order by surname, so please do not complain to me about where your name appears, you should talk to your parents first.
When I update the rankings I will do my best to explain some of the activity that has resulted in my decision, a recap of events if you will. It will not be like those dreadful “links of the week” posts, I promise. I am thinking more like a “Page Six” format, especially if I can get a few candid shots of people as they get in and out of their cars on their way to the office or home.
