YES WE CAN!

I got the call from Wayne Snyder late this afternoon. Well, it was an email at first, asking me to call him. So I did. He wasn’t there. So I left a message. And I emailed him back, saying I had left a message, and then he called me back. Exciting stuff, right?

Wayne wanted to get in touch with me as soon as possible because the PASS Board of Directors had themselves a little meeting today regarding the two vacant positions still left for the 2009 calendar year. You may recall that Paul Nielson and Erin Welker had been elected in 2007 to a two year term and both had resigned their posts in 2008. So, that opened up two spots for the board to appoint people to serve the remainder of those terms. Myself and Pat Wright were selected, both of us being notified late this afternoon.

So, it looks like I can cross off one of my goals for 2009 already, and we haven’t even finished 2008 yet. What? You say my goal was to get elected to the board? Dammit. Looks like I cannot cross that one off just yet.

So, I wanted to thank everyone for their support in Seattle this year. My strong showing in the overall results is what got me enough support from the board to be considered and then selected. Either that or it was the tramp stamp that I shoved in Wayne’s face after I lost. Either way the final result makes it appear that I covered all my bases this time around.

A very special thanks to my consigliere, Brent Ozar. His guidance as my campaign strategist was invaluable, as well the assistance from former board members Kevin Kline and Joe Webb. Kevin was instrumental for me in 2008 by helping me to expose myself on numerous occasions. And yes, you read that last sentence correctly. Joe was key for me in the eleventh hour as I continued to bounce ideas off of everyone around me.

I could go on for a few more paragraphs talking about how so many people helped me in some small way, and many of them probably do not remember doing so, but I cannot possibly list everyone and would hate to forget someone’s name and have them drop me an email tomorrow saying ‘WTF?’, so I will just say a general “Thank You” to all of my PASS brothers and sisters. We did it.

Now the real work begins.
